What is Aphasia?

Aphasia explained in plain-English

Aphasia is caused by damage to the language centers of the brain.  Different aspects of speech & language are controlled by different parts of the brain. It's one of the main focuses of the speech therapy software I work on.

It feels like you're travelling... but not in a good way

Aphasia can feel like you're in a foreign country, and what you hear and read seems to be in a foreign language.  When you speak and write (if you are able) others may not understand you.

Can you read the signs below?

You may recognize the second one. (Think "food" ). FYI, the color and text style are examples of hints or cues. They help us think of the word.  The therapy software I developed does the same thing.
