The best way to use these activities is to be available to help the the survivor when they ask.
The research shows that challenging practice stimulates more recovery. If it's too easy it won't challenge the brain go grow new neural pathways (see the article on How your brain rewires after injury). But if it's too hard, they are likely to be frustrated. It's ideal if you can be available nearby if they ask for help. However, only help when they clearly want it.
